How?

Legal Situation in St.Lucia – Every private house owner can install PV modules up to a capacity of 5 kW for each LUCELEC meter. If you have 2 meters you can install 2 times 5 kW. – Each company can install up to 25 kW per LUCELEC meter. – St.Lucia offers net-metering. This means: If you generate with your PV-system more electricity than you consume the LUCELEC meter will run backwards. When you consume more than you generate the LUCELEC meter will run forward. You get a monthly bill for the net meter reading. – However: there is no feed-in tarif. If you produce more electricity than you used in one month the excess energy is given away to LUCELEC. – Therefore any PV-system-design should take your individual electricity use into account.

What is necessary for an optimun PV-System-Design? – When you consider cutting your electricity costs and make a contribution to an environmentally positiv lifestyle get in touch with iCarib and bring your last electricity bills with you. iCarib offers free consultancy and system design. – As an exmple: If your monthly electricity bill is about 300 ECD it is likely that an optimum PV-System will consit out of 12 PV-modules 300 Watt each and thus together 3,6 kW capacity. This is sufficient to produce enough electricity every month on a yearly average to cover your consumption, assuming typical St.Lucia sun-light conditions. There will be months where you pay nothing to LUCELEC and there will be months, likely October and November with less sun shine, where you will have a small LUCELEC bill. – PV-Modules prefer direct sun-light all day. Any obstruction e.g. north facing installation or shadowing trees are disadvantages and shoud be avoided.
